Dear Dr. Jane: Why don’t you use corn, wheat or glutens in your dog and cat food formulas?
Dr. Jane’s Answer: Corn, wheat and gluten have gluten which can be a cause of intestinal problems. Corn and wheat can have alfatoxins which KILL. In fact, food companies have had to recall products because of it. There are only a few types of dangerous molds that can occur in potatoes, while many many in the others. When a manufacturer uses corn and wheat and gluten, it is usually as a substitute for meat, chicken, fish, dairy. You see gluten = protein, but it does not have a high biological protein.

I am extremely worried with this recall business. I see the culprit appears to be wheat gluton. What about corn gluten? I see if you just look up, “corn gluton”, it is used as a pesticide, yet if you look up “corn gluton in petfood”, they say it is a source of protein, etc. What do you make of this? It is in many brands of pet food.
